According to an interview with the Collider, the director of STAR WARS: ANDOR, Tony Gilroy explains why there is no mention of the Force in season one. He states the Star Wars galaxy is massive. He imagines that only about 10% of the total population of the galaxy knows what a Jedi is especially many years post Order 66 when the Jedi are almost eradicated or in hiding. On the planet of Ferrix, the small community do not show signs awareness of what a Jedi is or what the Force is. The people just go about their day working. Same for the imperials and people working in the security sector.

The story of ANDOR is set 5 years before ROGUE ONE which is close to the events of A NEW HOPE. In Episode IV, the Force and a Jedi Knight are introduced to the audience for the first time. In general, most of the cast were aware of the concept of the Force and treated the concept as folklore and sorcery. Han Solo, the galaxy faring smuggler, didn't believe in the Force but he was at least aware of the concept of the Force. The Rebels seemed be aware of the concept as well. The Rebel leader ends the meeting before the Death Star run with a "May the Force be with you" farewell. Han Solo even gives the same farewell to Luke implying this may be a common farewell. Some imperials call it an "ancient religion" and know of the Force's mystical reputation comparing it to sorcery and clairvoyance. Vader's presence must've made the Force a topic of conversation over a cup of Jawajuice. Even moisture farmers in the middle of nowhere heard of a Jedi but Luke didn't know what the Force was.

So, by Tony Gilroy's logic, only small pocket communities like Ferrix are so backwater that they never heard of the Jedi or Force? Ok, I'll bite. The galaxy is vast and nearly endless. But deep down I think the people of Ferrix must have at least heard of the Force farewell or heard rumors of the infamous space sorcerers like the Inquistors. Ferrix is not that isolated, they still get off world traffic. Well off visitors like Luthen make their way from Coruscant to this corner of the galaxy too. Perhaps the people in ANDOR just don't take it seriously like Han Solo and choose to ignore it. Similar to how we say, "Oh my God" or "God bless you." I feel the people of the Star Wars galaxy say the Force farewell without a second thought of what the Force is and maybe, maybe, about 10% or more truly understand the Force and have seen it in action.
Well, that's it for today. Until next time. God bless! And may the Force be with you. Always!
