RANDOM QUESTION SUNDAY 007 "Why is "this move" forbidden?"

Hello all! The Corellian Korean here to share my thoughts on today's RANDOM QUESTION SUNDAY. The question is:

Why is "this move" forbidden?

Someone showed me the above animated image and asked, why is "this move" forbidden? This infamous lightsaber move is known as "Trakata".

Trakata is a lightsaber combat technique that involves taking advantage of the unique property of a lightsaber's on and off switch. This technique was developed by a Jedi to compensate for their lack lightsaber skill. During combat between two lightsaber users, the one that uses Trakata will quickly turn off their lightsaber and reignite the blade to confuse the opponent. This sneaky move makes an opening for the Trakata user so they can strike the opponent.

It's like a basketball fake. In basketball, a player pretends to shoot the ball causing the opponent to compromise their defensive position resulting in an opportunity for the shooter to make an unobstructed shot.

In theory, Trakata sounds cool and looks flashy too like in basketball. Heck it looks awesome when you can fool your opponent and get one up on them in almost any sporting event like in Esports. There is one "League of Legends" esports pro, "Faker". who is considered one of the greatest esports players for his ability to manipulate his opponents with masterful feints then turning the tables in his favor in a if-you-blink-then-you'll-miss-it moment.

Some considered the ability to feint a crucial skill especially in a life or death situation like in a lightsaber duel. But this move was forbidden by both the Jedi and the Sith. The Jedi banned this maneuver because they considered it unsportsmanlike behavior in honorable lightsaber combat. While the Sith saw Trakata as a show of weakness and a lack of power.

Here is a clip from STAR WARS: VISIONS that demonstrates Trakata being used by a Jedi master. Warning this video clip contains spoilers!
