RANDOM QUESTION SUNDAY 018
“How will Ahsoka and Sabine's relationship develop?”
Hello there! The Corellian Korean here with the eighteenth RANDOM QUESTION SUNDAY! And the question is:
How will Ahsoka and Sabine's relationship develop?
POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR THE UPCOMING AHSOKA SERIES AND REBELS THE ANIMATED SERIES.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...

With the AHSOKA series premiere drawing near, Mrs. CK asked for my prediction as to how Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren's relationship will progress in the course of the series.
My wife has been following the breakdowns of the AHSOKA trailers. She asked, "What will happen to the pretty girl (with purple hair) and Ahsoka?" If you haven't read them then I recommend that you follow the links below.
To be honest there is not enough data to make this kind of prediction but let's see what we can dig up based on what we know.
Through the trailers, we know Ahsoka Tano is the Jedi master to Jedi apprentice, Sabine Wren. Ahsoka was training Sabine in the ways of the Force but "left" Sabine for reasons that will be revealed once the series premiers. If I had to guess, I think Sabine felt abandoned by Ahsoka's sudden departure and remained on Lothal. Years pass, Ahsoka returns to Lothal to ask for Sabine's help.

The trailers imply that Sabine will team up with Ahsoka to take on the challenges ahead. We see the duo take on a Dark Jedi pair. The Dark Jedi are also a master and an apprentice to act as counter parts for our protagonists. Let's compare the two pairs.

The Dark Jedi master, Baylan Skoll, was a fully trained Jedi master of the Clone Wars that fell to the Darkside of the Force. And Baylan doesn't like being called a Jedi.

The Dark Jedi apprentice, Shin Hati, taps into the Dark Side of the Force for power and she is a lightsaber practitioner. When she fights Sabine, Shin states that Sabine has "no power."

Our protagonist Jedi master, Ahsoka Tano, is well trained in the Lightside of the Force but never attained the title of Jedi Knight because she left the Jedi Order before she could complete her training.
Sabine Wren, the Jedi Padawan to Ahsoka Tano. Sabine was being trained by Ahsoka in the ways of the Jedi but we don't know the extent of her training. The trailer shows her wielding a lightsaber. There was an instance when Sabine extends her hand toward Shin, perhaps to Force Push Shin away. Also it is worth noting that Sabine uses her Mandalorian armor.

Sabine using her Mando armor is an important detail because there was only one other Mandalorian Jedi before Sabine. We have never seen this kind of Jedi in their prime. If Sabine completes her Jedi training with Ashoka, I believe Sabine will combine her Jedi skills with her Mando style of combat. A lethal combination as the Mandalorian style of fighting was developed to take down the Jedi.

Let's assume Baylan holds some sort of resentment toward the Jedi, maybe he blames the Jedi for being weak and not being more aggressive during the Clone Wars. That it was this weakness that brought down the Jedi Order. Baylan indoctrinates Shin with this kind of thinking that the Jedi ways are weak.

So Shin calls Sabine weak as seen in the trailer. Maybe Shin even senses Sabine's insecurity and doubt as a student through the Force. If this is true, most likely Shin will taunt Sabine into tapping into the the Dark Side of the Force for more power. Let's take this a step further, Shin offers Sabine to join forces. That Shin can help complete Sabine's training. This would give the Sabine's Force Vision greater depth if this is true. Maybe she is devising treachery to betray her master.
However, Sabine will reject Shin's offer. Despite all those years of waiting for her master to return. She never lost hope that Ahsoka would return to complete her training. On top of that Sabine never doubted Ahsoka's teachings. Despite Ahsoka being a broken Jedi outcast, Sabine sees Ahsoka as something more. Maybe she sees family, loyalty, friendship, experience, strength, gentleness, humility, respect, empathy, hope, honor, traits of a true Jedi. Perhaps, with Ahsoka's return, her faith and hope is fully restored in her master.

Now let's look at Baylan Skoll, he said he knew Anakin Skywalker. He probably met Anakin from the Clone Wars. They probably fought side-by-side on occasion and shared philosophy. Maybe they even felt the same way about the Jedi Order. That their teachings prevented the Jedi from going the distance to end the war. That their dogmatic ways costed many innocent lives on both sides of the conflict.
Baylan will tap into that aspect of Anakin's past and tells Ahsoka that if Anakin was alive today he would join sides with Baylan. Then he states that they should not be at odds with each other but they should be working together. In essence, they want the same thing... power. Power to dominate their adversaries and protect their own from threats like another Jedi Purge. Maybe Baylan is even considering forming his own authoritarian dictatorship.

Ahsoka rejects Baylan's offer stating that Baylan didn't know the true Anakin. Ahsoka is the person she is today because of Anakin's teachings. Always proud to be Anakin's Padawan.

If I had to predict the future of Ahsoka and Sabine, I think part of this series will delve deeper into the different aspects of relationships/partnerships through Ahsoka and Sabine's journey. Maybe Ahsoka and Sabine will learn from each and grow along the way. Give new meaning as to what it means to be a Jedi in this time and age. All the while preserving what came before.
