"Ray Stevenson Teased as a Major Villain in AHSOKA Trailer"

Hello there! The Corellian Korean here to talk about a MAJOR villain that was teased.

WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

In my previous post, I talked about there being two major villains in Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy, Grand Admiral Thrawn and Jorus C'Baoth. The live-action actor for Thrawn was officially revealed as Lars Mikkelsen in the AHSOKA trailer. During the trailer there was another prominent figure wielding an orange-red lightsaber that gets plenty of screen time. The Jedi like gentleman, portrayed by Ray Stevenson, was clashing sabers with Rosario Dawson's character Ahsoka Tano, the protagonist of the AHSOKA series. In another scene, Stevenson was wearing a Jedi hood and extending his hand to use the Force. The Under the hooded robes Stevenson was wearing stylized gear reminiscent of General Anakin Skywalker's Clone Wars era attire. I believe Stevenson's character will be a version or an homage to Zahn's Jorus C'Baoth.

The fact that Stevenson's character clashes sabers with Ahsoka positions him as a potential antagonist to partner with Thrawn. In the Thrawn trilogy, C'Baoth was a Dark Jedi that had powers that mirrored Palpatine's abilities like Force Lightning. However, C'Baoth referred to himself as a Jedi, not a Sith. Without giving away too much about the novels, I will say C'Baoth works with Thrawn due to a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Another reason I believe Stevenson will fill the role of Jorus C'Baoth in the AHSOKA series is because of the how he was purposely paired with Lars Mikkelsen for THEIR panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023. Mikkelsen was at liberty to talk about himself being Thrawn appearing in the AHSOKA series but Stevenson was tight lip about the identity of his character. Stevenson revealed a few nuggets about his character like how his character and Ahsoka will have multiple fight scenes together. Stevenson also said a few key words like how his character resembles a knight from King Arthur's round table with a legendary quest. Then the host asking the interview questions during the panel, Anthony Carboni, dropped a bomb, he implied that Stevenson's character had flaws like Arthur's knights. I don't know about you but it sounded like Carboni was trying to imply that Stevenson's character resembles C'Baoth. And if you know Dark Jedi then you know how flawed they are.

If this is indeed a version of C'Baoth, it seems like Jon Favreau and Dave Filino will flesh out C'baoth's character more than the Expanded Universe creatives were allowed to back in the 1990s. Back then, there were limitations set on the creatives of the Expanded Universe. For example, authors were not allowed to explore the character of Anakin Skywalker before he became Darth Vader or the era of the Clone Wars. Now that Lucas and Filoni have filled the void of the Clone Wars era, the current creatives involved with the new AHSOKA series can give Thrawn and C'Baoth a deeper backstory and explore their motivations with greater freedom. May the Force be with all that are involved in the world building of Star Wars, especially Favreau, Filoni and Lucas. Maybe even Timothy Zahn himself, I hear he is involved. 😎

That's it for this scoop. I hope you found today's post interesting. If you did please share your thoughts. And while you are at it please leave a like. Until next time, may the Force be with you. Always!
