"Studio Ghibli Teases a Future Project"
Hello there! The Corellian Korean here with the scoop on a potential collaboration project between Lucasfilms and Studio Ghibli.
On February 3rd, this image was posted on Studio Ghibli's Twitter account. It's an image of a frayed shelf sized metallic Grogu statue with "THIS IS THE WAY" etched into it's base. The Grogu statue is standing next to what looks like a wooden Monopoly-man figure operating an antique wooden hand-crank camera of similar size. The pair have a charming dimly lit shelf aesthetic with an unfocused faded classic car model kit box resting in the background.

A short comment is posted along with the charming image in Japanese which translates into "Good morning". We all know what this is hinting.
This image resembles the teased Ghibli-Lucasfilms collaboration released on Twitter back in November 2022. This legendary collaboration turned out a 3 minute animated short: ZEN - GROGU AND THE DUST BUNNIES. It was a short clip of 2D animated Grogu interacting with the iconic Ghibli dust bunnies aka "soot-balls" aka "susuwatari" from their films like MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO and SPIRITED AWAY. Fans were expecting something as equally grand as a collaboration between these two film behemoths. Something on par with the first volume of STAR WARS: VISIONS. The film was very cute but 3 minutes felt very underwhelming.
If I had to guess, this newly teased collaboration is a response to the overwhelming buzz that the first collab created. Perhaps Lucasfilms and Ghibli want to meet those expectations and put in greater effort for a second animated project. I hope my tin-foil-hat senses are correct and that Lucasflims 🧡 Studio Ghibli will do just that.
