"PART THREE - Choosing Your Path"
Last time on the CHRONICLES OF #37, our protagonist finally chose to follow the path of a Stormtrooper. And we decided on #37's fantasy character name together as father and son.
Since #37 didn't have experience with choosing a name, it fell upon me to help him choose a name. Before choosing a name I showed #37 several Stormtrooper sculpts and asked which Stormtrooper miniature he wanted to use?
He had a hard time choosing, #37 liked them all. I couldn't fault him on that since all of the poses looked great (Good job Wizards of the Coast on the excellent sculpts!) so once again it fell upon me to choose for him. I picked the Stormtrooper that was aiming it's blaster at the ready. And #37 agreed with this pick.
For each miniature there is a stat card that goes with the miniature. You can see which card corresponds with it's designated miniature by looking at the number located at the base of the miniature.
As you can see from the picture, this Stormtrooper miniature was designated "37/60, Imperial 5 Stormtrooper". This miniature is from the very first set of STAR WARS MINIATURES produced by Wizards of the Coast in 2004. The name of the first set was "Rebel Storm" and this set produced 60 miniatures in total.
Trooper 37 aka RS 3760
I took the information from the miniature "37/60" and the name of the set "Rebel Storm" then mashed them together to come up with RS 3760. And wallah "Trooper 37", or "#37" for short, became my son's first fantasy character name. I told him that numbers 3 and 7 often correlated with positive values in Western culture and religion, sometimes invoking good fortune. #37 was pleased with his new character name as he beamed with excitement of having a new name like a superhero. We shook on the name. Trooper 37 stuck the landing!
Expanded Universe Lore
From my understanding of the lore, Stormtroopers (not Clone Troopers of the Republic) are given 2 letters and 4 numbers in their assigned Stormtrooper ID aka operating number. The letters represent where the Stormtroopers were trained, and the number is their identification number.
An interesting side note: While looking at the stat card for the 37/60 miniature, I noticed a misprinted error made by Wizards of the Coast. They got the pose on 37/60 miniature and image on the card wrong. There was a switcheroo between 37/60 and 38/60. In the card for 37/60 the Stormtrooper is running and not aiming his blaster! But don't worry, I found this accident fascinating and factored this into his character development at a later time.
