"The R&D Outpost"

In the last episode of the CHRONICLES OF #37, our 6-year-old protagonist successfully apprehended the two Hutt syndicate cronies with the help of the R&D tech. #37 completed his first mission and returned to his rural outpost.

Story Time

From a distance a billow of dust blazed across the desert landscape of Tatooine. Three speeder bikes in a wedge formation lifted dust in its wake. #37 took the lead, the Qaurren and Ithorian flanked him. G2 was mounted horizontally on the right side of #37's speeder.

The desert colors faded from an amber twilight to a cold indigo. Tatooine's twin suns sank into the horizon.

The three speeder bikes slowed to a halt about three hundred meters short of the R&D outpost. G2 immediately detached itself from the speeder bike, tilted backwards to rest on it's tripod. #37 remained on his speed. He watched the droid race ahead to disable the auto-turrets so the sentries would not shoot at the two adjunct recruits. The turrets came alive when G2 approached the outpost entrance but didn't fire. G2's cyclopic eye changed colors communicating with the auto-turrets. The turrets paused then slowly faced outward to resume sentry duty. Then the bikes slowly hovered into the outpost in a single file.

Once inside the base, the red and white astromech droid plugged into a computer port to transmit the research data it collected to R&D. G2 whistled triumphantly to indicate that they completed their first mission.

#37 nods at the droid then walked the criminals to an incarceration cell with two bunkbeds at the back of the structure. The Quarren and Ithorian's eyes were alert, but their bodies moved naturally into the cell. After the cell doors closed behind the criminals, #37 reached inside his helmet to turn off his built-in Command Ring. The two inmates slouched then straighten up again. G2 took over the control of the Obedience Disks to relieve #37.

As it turns out, it took #37 a great deal of concentration to coordinate the hosts of the Obedience Disks and his own motor functions. Due to his mental fortitude, #37 he was one of the few cadets that had the mental aptitude to operate the Command Ring. G2 was equally proficient at controlling the two adjunct recruits with surgical precision minus the mental fatigue of living organisms.

It was late so #37 retired for the day to rest in his personal quarters. G2 followed suit and docked at its charging station while simultaneously monitoring the biological needs of the adjuncts. G2 dimmed the lights and entered sentry mode. It was now connected to everything in the outpost including the auto-turrets outside. Droids didn't need to sleep so G2 stayed productive while recharging. G2 was the ultimate sentry guard.

Before #37 could fall into a deep sleep, #37 woke up to blaring alerts from G2. The Guardian R2 Unit stood at the foot of his bed. It shoved the R&D datapad into #37's face with its tiny appendage claw. G2's communications were scrolling across the screen of the datapad. #37 got up from his bed and dawned his Stormtrooper helmet. The outpost was under attack.
